Seen on mcreports.com: GS1100E 1980-1981 ” The GS1000E had proved to be a very capable machine, with a strong engine and terrific handling, but in terms of top speed, and particularly quarter mile performance, it was beaten by the Honda CBX and Yamaha's XS11. Suzuki lost sales as a result... hence the reworking of the GS1000E into the GS1100E. The new engine benefitted from a four valve per cylinder head, and had much more power than its predecessor. As a result, the 1100 was the new Speed King. Power was spread across the rev range, and it could pull from as little as 2000rpm. The GS1100E retained the ergonomic features of the 1000, and was a comfortable mile eater, as well as an eye opening performer. Power in 1980 was 86.67@8000rpm, with torque of 59.73@6500rpm. wet weight was 563.5lbs. ” |

Admittedly it was an awesome machine, and king of the dragstrip, but it was happy in many roles. With the introduction of the GS1100G, the 'E' model could really let loose and go for gold. The engine was breathed on and the styling changed to be reminiscent of the early-80's Katana's, combining spedd with function and styling. Power in 1982 was 108bhp@8500rpm, with torque of 67.6@6500. Wet weight was 549lb's. ” |
