J Hus Common Sense Album Download
Common Sense is the debut studio album by British recording artist J Hus. It was released on 12 May 2017 by Black Butter Records, distributed by Sony Music, for digital download and CD purchase.[3] The album features production from long-time collaborator Jae5,[4] along with guest appearances from Mo Stack, MIST, Tiggs da Author and Burna Boy. The lead single, 'Did You See', peaked at number nine on the UK Singles Chart, becoming J Hus' highest-charting single.
J Hus was born Momodou Jallow in London to a mother who had emigrated from Gambia in her 20s. When he was a child, Hus (for “hustle”) accompanied her to parties where he was introduced to music from Africa. (Jae5, the producer responsible for crafting and expanding J Hus’ sound, spent three years in his parents’ native Ghana, making for another important connection to the continent’s pop music.) The Afrobeat threads run through Common Sense, alongside grime’s menace (see “Clartin”), contemplative pianos (“Who You Are”), or the sheen of turn-of-the-century Roc-A-Fella (the title track).

Big Conspiracy, Hus’s first release since his eight-month jail stint, was executive produced by JAE5 and “boasts an exuberant blend of Dancehall, Afrobeat, Rap, R&B and even Drill,” says a press release. The album moves effortlessly from one song to the next, weaving stories that shift from lyrics that speak of being at the top of the world to scraping by as an underdog fighting one’s way to a place of respect.
“You’re gonna hear a more grown-up Hus” the rapper told Wonderland back in 2019. “You’re gonna hear music with more meaning.” Stream J Hus’s Big Conspiracy and let us know what you think.
