ok! the barrel looked pretty bad at the shop, so the owner knocked off another $20. $108 OTD. it is a real jungle carbine, no5 mk1. lightening cuts in the receiver and barrel, dated 10/45 ROF.
one thing to say one i disassembled it. crud and rust where the name of the game. the rifle is now named ms. pitts..............and she has a sewer pipe for a barrel. well a wire brush took care of all the surface rust. the barrel has rust in it, but the worst rust(more than just surface rust) was the butt stock area on the receiver. a dremel tool will take care off that later.......stock is in decent shape for now, but after 5 brass brushes, the barrel still looks bad. i can see lands now, but the grooves are still caked /rusted. going to try an electric bore cleaner next. but i would like to buy a new barrel...
on the positive side......it has the NICEST trigger i have ever felt on an original enfield. it has a nice easy 1st stage(not gritty) and the 2nd is pure target rifle heaven. it broke at 4.5 pounds!!!!!. at least one thing is good about the rifle!
